Hello there beautiful stranger.

AN INCH THICK.
Cash, Cards, Cosmetics! At least an inch thick!

Visitors: I welcome people who view makeup as their passion, who share my hungry search in the beauty realm, who have a remarkable sense of humour with slight touch of sarcasm.

introduction

I was an ordinary nobody until fate brought makeup and me together and I began to live the life of an extraordinary somebody.

Life with make-up was nothing like I have ever known before. So I have decided to devote the rest of my life advocating makeup as a lifestyle, as a religon. Welcome to my life, my world, my galaxy, my makeup bible.

I've got this crazy dream... this aspiration... this fascination... where I'll sit on my princess-cut, thousand-diamond-encrusted throne and order my little minios to carry my Miu Miu heels on a red velvet cushion. They will send my orders on command to the very TOP SECRET department of MAC and delegate them the outmost important job of crafting the most sophisticated, most perfect concealer ever.

BUT like I said, of course, its just a dream. I'm not insane ok... just a little delusional.

I'm smittened, besotted, obsessed, fixated where cosmetics are concerned and I'm sure u do as well or I don't see any reason as to why you are, at this very moment, unabashedly nosing around my blog.

If its not hate-mail, I'll reply to it:
Email: blue_koh@hotmail.com
But if it is, I'll torch ur house... JUST KIDDING! I'll just track u down no matter which part of Earth u are from and give u the most resounding headbutt ever that ur eardrums will burst.

shopping list
if i even stick to it

Life will be a lot easier if Sophie Kinsella is God. Why? Lemme see... because it'll just be shopping and trying and reserving and looking and buying and just insane shopping.

And there is also the love element where I always dream that one day, my very own Luke Brandon (with incredulously good looks, charisma plus an unparalleled credit limit) will come around the corner somewhere, sometime soon, and sweep me off my feet.

However, since Love (with a devastatingly hot boyfriend plus an almost boundless credit limit) is hard to find, I shall settle with an affair with clothes, bags, shoes and cosmetics first.

I always feel that good-looking clothes, bags, shoes and cosmetics are easier to find than good-looking boyfriends anyways. =D

Falling in love with MAC is always easy and they hardly ever disappoint anyways. If they do, there is always Dior, Chanel, Anna Sui, Lancome, Estee Lauder, Kose, Kanebo... ... ...

I WANT THIS AND THIS AND THIS

Book Hunger
my reading appetite

I love to read a lot so I'm really quite a nerd.

Give me Kino (Kinokuniya) or Borders or MPH or Times. I can gladly spend hours and hours and hours and hours... ... ... you get the drift.

When I was in Thailand on a holiday shopping spree and actually bought two Philosophy books so just try and imagine how nerdy I am.

I even ran to the bookstore to get them because I was worried that it was closing soon... add more nerdy points! I'm more than ur average nerd... or maybe not. Really depends...

You can see that I'm quite a balanced reader. I'm not just some dumb bimbo who loves Chick Lit (or Lit Chick, meaning 'Literature for Chic Chicks') and happily-ever-afters, I love Philosophy and Economics as well.

But nothing beats a heart-warming dose of Chick Lit. And a slice of Belgium chocolate cake topped with a scoop of Cookies&Cream. Make that two. Well, can't blame me. Right?

And of course, like the average kid, I love Harry Potter (J K Rowling is plain brillant!) and Diana Wayne Jones (Not a book! An author!)

People who know me will know the thinker inside me as well BUT people who don't know me will just think I'm a frivolous person I guess.

So... check out what's on my reading wishlist!

    Random Rant *Nine*

School has of course begun for me and all I can say is that I truly hate varsity life. I never knew that it would be so miserable! I'm abhoring life here... totally...

I have super long breaks and no one to spend it with because all the nice people do not share my breaks while all the mean people happen to share my breaks.

I know this sounds so juvenile... but I hate my life now... it sucks and I just wanna drop dead and die. Ok maybe not drop dead and die since there are still people whom I love a lot in this world but u get my drift.

I need a break... from life.

    The X-Edition *Three*

I really LOVE the X-Edition for this week because these are some of the best buys from MAC in my humble opinion. I'll be looking at the Electroflash and Sonic Chic collections that were released earlier this month in Singapore. And I initially thought I won't give it a damn since Electroflash does not have any special packaging and I'm not a blush person.

Quite a number of the items are sold out already and because I have a very sweet MA, I still managed to get the products even though they were supposedly sold out at the counter. She actually reserved for me items which she felt that will suit me so when I arrived at the counter and told her that the one which I wanted the most was sold out already, she smiled and said she knew what I would choose and kept Dainty and Pleasantry away for me. There was no more Dainty left and only 2 Pleasantrys were left.

I was semi-disappointed when she told me she kept them for me because I expected to save some money but then since she kept them for me, I should buy them out of politeness and sometimes, u never know how u will be rewarded. I am now a blush convert!

    From Electroflash:

    From Sonic Chic:

I really love these 2 Mineralize collection and I am so damn glad that Dainty will be coming back later. I considered getting Merrily because it will not be coming back but then I thought I will not enjoy having two red strips across my face since Pleasantry is already having such an effect on me. And if I really want red blush, I can always use my Soft Flame Loose Beauty Powder to achieve that. The fact that I almost always over do Soft Flame will be a good enough reason to not get Merrily. I regret not knowing about how great these Mineral products were in the past collections released like Antiquitease and Flastronic. Well, late better than never, now I love them like crazy!

    Random Rant *Eight*

I'm FINALLY BACK!!! After such a long disappearance...

I haven't been doing Quote Quill for quite a couple of weeks so I guess next month's Quote Quill theme will still be 'John Stuart Mill'.

The 'Guy' theme for Vid-viewing and Nerdy Chick Day will also be stretched through September and I promise u people (if I am even talking to anyone because I doubt there are any readers yet) that u won't be disappointed. At least u will not be if u are like me! Chic nerds out there who love Chick Lit will definitely love the whole series of novels that I will be reviewing so do look out for Nerdy Chick Days!

School starts today so life will be hectic but at least more meaningful than it used to be. I do have some spare time in between lessons so if I want to take a break from revision or if I'm not reading a book, I'll definitely spend the time in the library trying to update my blog. So u can definitely expect to see posts being published during the day, not just at night.

I'll do a better job and be more committed to this blog and hopefully in the near future, viewership will increase. =D

    Random Rant *Seven*

I've got quite a couple of resolutions for August onwards and I'm glad to say that I did stick to some quite well, though I'm not proud to say that I did not manage to accomplish some others like updating my blog regularly. I will. Promise.

I've been really pretty busy recently thus I'm like missing out on my sleep left, right, up and down. Tonnes of books I'd like to read but I don't have either the resources to get to it or the time to finish it. Tonnes of decluttering I have to do but I have tonnes of clothes and cosmetics as well and it doesn't help that my room is small and cramp, extremely space-scarce. Tonnes of presents I owe my friends (and my totally beloved mummy) or am going to owe my friends soon enough because I keep delaying all the birthday-pressie-shopping and the fact that many of my friends celebrate their birthday this time of the year makes it more hectic for me. And also... one of my mum's cousin passed away late last week and the funeral and wake were held earlier this week thus I was really drained, having to go to the funeral till wee hours and then waking up in the morning to settle my other stuff.

I apologise once again (to nobody at all since there are no readers yet) for my lack of commitment... I will definitely make it up to u guys...

    Vid Viewing Day *Sixth*

    These month is Guy-theme week!

DVD Title: For You In Full Blossom (Hanazakari no Kimitachi e)
    Origin: Japan
Genre: Modern day serial drama based on popular manga

    Main Cast:

    Synopsis:

Ashiya Mizuki, a Japanese girl whose family migrated to America, idolizes a high school athlete, Sano Izumi. In order to get close to her idol, she decided to return to Japan and enrol in the school which her idol studies at. The biggest sacrifice that she has to make is not leaving her family in America and going back to Japan alone but cross-dressing as a guy because the school that Sano Izumi studies at is an all-boys school. The rest of the show is about how Mizuki adapts to the school environment, the friends she makes, the problems that she encounters regarding her female identity and most importantly, her relationship with Sano Izumi. The funniest moments have to be those that include Nakatsu Suichi, a close within the clique, because he fell in love with Mizuki and as he initially had no idea regarding Mizuki's true identity, he kept having doubts regarding his sexual orientation. I'll leave you to find out the ending to the drama then!

    Reflection:

Having read the Japanese manga before, I'd say that it definitely pales in comparison to the manga in terms of the development of events and growth of the characters. However I very much prefer the ending in the Japanese drama as compared to the manga although both endings left much more to be desired. I've also watched the Taiwanese version and I have to say that in terms of the cast and script, the Japanese version totally trash the Taiwanese version down. The acting in the Japanese one is far more superior to that of the Taiwanese one and the script carries more surprises than the Taiwanese one, which is a literal cut-and-paste effort (the whole damn thing is highly similar to the manga except that they cut it short by ending the show haphazardly without including later volumes of the manga) on the scriptwriter's part.

'John Stuart Mill' Month For Quote Quill

After a whole month of Shakespeare's 'Othello', it's finally a new month! A new month calls for a new theme and this month, it shall be on John Stuart Mill!

John Stuart Mill is an economist and philosopher whom I have outmost respect for. His ideals for uilitarianism are what I advocate and the fact that he had great respect for the less aggressive (in the physical arena, definitely not intellectual) gender made me admire him even more. He is, without any qualms, my favourite thinker of all times.

Has anyone tried to fight for an idea or concept but never knew exactly how to put their thoughts into words or just didn't know how to make the argument sound more humane and less cold-blooded? I have. When I was studying the topic of Crime and Punishment (for both General Paper and English Literature) in school, I found myself greatly drawn to it. Please do not get me wrong, I'm not a sadistic person who enjoys gory images. I was mainly absorbed in a quote that was presented to us during the lecture. That quote, which drew me into the world of John Stuart Mill, is what I'll be sharing with you for my first quote to this month!

    Enjoy!
